JOB SUMMARY:

Ormco is looking for a dynamic Director, Software Development to join the Spark RD&T team who will be responsible for leading the development of software systems for the manufacturing of orthodontic appliances. You will lead the development of SPARK manufacturing software that will allow SPARK Aligners to add more advance clinical features, at the same time innovate and integrated with the latest manufacturing technology. This is a highly visible role, requiring an experienced leader with strong technical skills across C++ (or equivalent), complex algorithm development. The leader needs to be capable of taking informed decision to benefit for the business and effectively communicating that with all levels of the company (leadership team or technicians on the manufacturing floor).

You will lead the team through creating the roadmap, managing the backlog, defining the functional relation and interfaces between the SPARK front-end Software Development and manufacturing software and various subsystems. As a Director, you will be responsible for leading the team through all the steps involved in the software development cycle. We are looking for a leader who is a great communicator and a collaborator, who drives the professional manufacturing software team by setting examples. This person will have demonstrated success in leading large complex software development and brings clarity to the group.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of SPARK manufacturing software and support manufacturing automation via software solutions.

  • Lead and contribute to the strategic direction and define roadmap for the process development.

  • Spearhead all user documentation as mandated by regulatory and engineering standard methodologies.

  • Owning integration between requirements and development, identify risks and provide mitigation.

  • Managing a team of off-site contractors and potential on-site employees.

  • Act as a strategist and champion for enterprise architecture and design principles.

  • Manage cross-functional dependencies.

  • Participate in cross-functional coordination, architecture discussions and prioritization planning in an agile development environment.

  • Identify requirements by collaborating with stakeholders (R&D, Product management, RA/QE, RD&T Automation Group, Operations sites) including User Needs. Be able to distill complex topics into clear communications to program stakeholders.

  • Establish best practices which enables the measure of key performance indicators to ensure success.

  • Coordinating and working with a global team in different time zones.

  • Ensure resource needs are established and fulfilled.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics fields or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • 7+ years' experience as a Software manager, leading complex software development projects, with a track record of successful releases on time; with 2+ of those years as a leader/manager of the team.

  • Proficient in at least one strongly-typed language (.NET, C/C++, C#, etc.)

  • Strong background in Agile methodologies and ability to mentor others in their use.

  • Experience in leading and building product roadmap and determining right priorities for the business.

  • Experience in team leadership, decision making, and presenting to groups.

  • Proactive mindset to drive change, question assumptions and push for innovation solutions.

  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams.

  • Knowledge of modern SQL and NoSQL databases.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
