Job Description

Summary:

Scientific Games is a global leader in lottery games, technologies, and services. They are looking for a Senior MySQL DBA. This position will be responsible for tasks such as, development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, back and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The candidate will also build and maintain large-scale and very high transaction MySQL databases on Ubuntu Linux platforms. They will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.

Day to day responsibilities:

* Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non- clustered configurations

* Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.

* Prepare documentations and specifications

* Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.

* Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary

* Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

* Project management and customer interaction

* Excellent verbal skills and written communication skills

* Experience with backup and recovery strategies

* Experience in Database software management (patch and version management)

* Good scripting ability and good working knowledge of shell scripts, Perl or Python.

* 24/7 support of Production DB's

Skills and Requirements

Must have Professional Experience with the following:

* 4 - 7+ years exp. MySQL technology

* Proficient MySQL database management, preferably Percona

* Managing large scale MySQL databases

* MySQL's underlying storage engines: InnoDB and MyISAM

* Exp. w/ replication configuration in MySQL

* Hands on designing + implementing database replication strategies

* Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements

* Exp. administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux

Education:

* BS in Computer Science or equivalent education Plusses:

* Knowledge or experience with MariaDBSQL, ServerRedisRIAKNagios or Zabbix

* Scripting experience - primarily bash with some Perl and Python, other scripting languages accepted

* Industry experience - iLottery or iGaming

* Certified MySQL DBA null
