Sysbase Engineer

The company is located in the Fairfax, VA. 12-month contract-to-hire and will remain 100% Remote.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Assess and adhere to government development guidelines, analyzing both system and individual functional requirements to gauge potential impacts on other systems or functions, and devise software solutions and procedures to fulfill those requirements.

• Operate within a Linux environment utilizing Shell Scripting, Sybase IQ, Sybase ASE, and Python.

• Provide support for routine system checks, handle ad hoc client requests, and facilitate monthly data refresh processes.

• Conduct User Acceptance Testing in collaboration with users and stakeholders as required.

• Formulate unit test scenarios, scrutinize test outcomes, and document findings for release purposes.

• Craft and execute precise and comprehensive unit and integration test scripts.

• Demonstrate adeptness in adjusting, coordinating, and prioritizing multiple tasks to align with clients' evolving needs.

• Identify and address bottlenecks and thresholds within existing functions during the development phase.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of extensive expertise in Linux and Sybase environments.

• Proficient in Development Life Cycle, encompassing system design, maintenance, and diverse testing phases.

• Skilled in generating timely and precise status reports, including time management and adherence to level of effort (LOE) requirements.

• Demonstrated proficiency with:

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux

• Sybase IQ

• Sybase ASE

• Python Scripting

• SQL Query Analysis Tools like Aqua Data Studio

• Knowledge of Java and JavaScript is considered advantageous.

• Possess strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, coupled with effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Able to work autonomously, managing multiple tasks within a dynamic environment, while also collaborating with the team to facilitate efficient software deployment workflows.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent relevant academic qualifications.
