This position is responsible for these states: NC, SC, GA, FL, KY, TN, AL, or VA (Candidate will ideally live in one of these states).
This role is responsible for leading and managing a team of Field Patient Services Liaisons (PSLs) who are the main point of contact to Dermatology and Rheumatology patients and HCPs in the process of initiating therapy. (NOTE: this team will not engage in the practice of nursing.) The Area Leader will hire, train and manage the work responsibilities of the Patient Services Liaisons to optimize the dermatology and rheumatology patient and physician experience, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. The Area Leader will be responsible for ensuring that Patient Services Liaison activities are compliant with Novartis policies and procedures. The Area Leader will also be responsible for proper development of the PSL team and for coordinating with other colleagues within Patient Services to develop and implement changes to the program to improve the patient experience.
The Area Leader will be responsible for:
Hiring, training and providing leadership and direction to a dedicated team of Field PSLs in a manner consistent and compliant with company policies and requirements
Continually develop Field PSLs, including training on marketplace and therapy area changes and managing their performance against set objectives
Managing the geography to ensure appropriate coverage of patients and physicians offices
Perform blended role, consisting of Area team management and area team support. This includes, performance of key PSL based tasks as part of performance management and vacancy coverage.
Where necessary and appropriate, working directly with physicians and patients to help initiate therapy
Seeking ways to improve the patient experience and working cross-functionally with Patient Service colleagues to develop and implement improvements to the program
Acting as a program liaison to the Commercial Sales counterpart in their region
Ensuring compliance with Novartis policies and procedures and full integration into the Novartis culture and support resources

5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or related/applicable industry
Relevant people management experience or successful completion of Novartis management development program (SMDP)
Available for significant traveling
Valid driver’s license required as will be required to drive company issued vehicle.
Active RN licensure in state in which he/she resides
Must pass all required company certifications and/or oral board exams
Must adhere to all company policy and compliance
Management of a patient support field team, with experience in a specialty category a plus
Successful experience in hiring, developing, and managing diverse high performing teams towards meeting and exceeding objectives
Patient support educator lead experience including influential leadership at Regional or National level
Strong compliance mindset, high level of integrity and ethical judgment
Demonstrated experience in fostering compliance with company policies and procedures
Understanding of privacy laws and regulations including HIPAA and similar state laws
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Strong leadership, teaching, planning and organization, data and analytics, decision making and problem solving skills
Commercial experience in a specialty category with an advanced marketing mindset
Experience managing access, distribution and reimbursement in a specialty category
Strong ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally within a matrix environment
