Oracle Remote Senior Principal Software Engineer – Distributed Systems in Augusta, Maine

Job Description

At Oracle our exciting mission to build a premier health data platform with intelligent services, brings about several interesting technical challenges. As part of this team, you will accelerate several architectural efforts - achieve orders of magnitude data processing latency improvement, creating comprehensive patient health records that can scale to entire populations of nations, creating a health data lake at massive scale to enable a host of intelligent health services. Healthcare applications are mission critical requiring advancement to highest levels of availability and disaster recovery capabilities. As we partner with Oracle Cloud engineering teams, you will participate in advancement and early adoption of cutting edge OCI Big Data, data lake and data warehouse services and products. The Health Data platform will have global reach, requiring engineering advancements to support varying data laws and regulations, data formats and content.

We're looking for a highly skilled experienced engineers to lead design and implementation of high-scale, cloud-based data processing systems that can handle massive amounts of data with low latency. You will work with executive leaders and software engineering teams, providing technical leadership and delivering software products to our customers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and implementation of distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.

  • Build cloud services on top of the modern OCI infrastructure.

  • Establish best practices for the software lifecycle, from design to development, to quality assurance, and to production.

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the best engineering and operational practices upfront to ensure our software quality bar is high.

  • Optimize data processing pipelines for orders of magnitude higher throughput and faster latencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Significant experience of designing distributed systems implementing SaaS/IaaS.

  • Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, C#, C++ or Go.

  • Deep expertise in technologies and design concepts around Big Data processing, Analytics, relational databases, unstructured storage, Hadoop or similar parallel compute technologies, stream processing, etc.

  • Demonstrated competence as a technical owner of large SaaS/IaaS systems spanning multiple components.

  • Experience in defining the technical vision for a product area, including staying abreast of current technologies, judging their applicability to your ownership spans and driving their adoption within your organization.

  • Demonstrated competence in providing technical leadership to relatively large technical projects involving tens of engineers.

  • Experience in working with Product Management and other stakeholders to help define product direction and requirements.

  • Experience with working with technical partners to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable technical requirements and per-component designs.

  • Experience with all aspects of SaaS system design, including functionality, scalability, observability, maintainability, testability and deployment considerations.

  • Experience with being the bar-raiser for product quality.

  • Experience with defining the technical culture and processes of large SW engineering teams.

  • Experience with recruiting, mentoring and growing engineers.

  • Public Cloud SaaS, PaaS Services and/or related technology experience, Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development

  • 12+ years of experience of relevant experience

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
