The Medical Coding Analyst provides coding and coding auditing services supporting Complex Care Management clinical programs. This includes the analysis and translation of medical and clinical diagnoses, procedures, injuries, or illnesses into designated numerical codes.

Review and analyze health assessments to identify unclear or incomplete clinical documentation as well as determine diagnosis codes for each encounter
Review and analyze progress notes and attestation statements submitted by providers for ICD code validation
Assigns ICD codes as well as CPT codes to visit encounters
Submits queries to providers consistent with established department protocols
Maintains 96% or better coding accuracy rate
Maintains production standards set by department benchmarks
Communicates professionally and effectively with Advanced Practice Clinicians and staff
Maintain knowledge of Risk Adjustment regulatory requirements
Maintain knowledge of CPT/Evaluation and Management Guidelines
Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent
Coding Credential from National Accredited Organization such as AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA etc.)
Knowledge of ICD-10 CM guidelines and coding
Strong attention to detail
Must have the ability to perform in a deadline driven environment
Must be able to maintain professionalism and a positive service attitude at all times
Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment when arriving at conclusions
Ability to effectively report deficiencies with a recommended solution in oral and/or written form
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
