The IT Testing and Quality Assurance Analyst works closely with developers, subject matter experts, and vendors to develop test plans for applications, interfaces, business intelligence products and other IT projects. This individual is also responsible for organizing and carrying out test plans, developing test cases/ test data, documenting results and following up with the appropriate parties as needed. This role increases the success of IT projects, improves customer satisfaction, improves the quality of products and services, and helps give Rush Health a competitive advantage.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with developers, subject matter experts and project management team to develop testing process for IT projects, including:

  • Understand requirements of project, priorities, risks and testing protocols

  • Requirements analysis to determine which assumptions of a design are testable and with which parameters those tests work.

  • Test planning, including feasibility analysis to determine which scenarios are most likely to occur and how many permutations should be tested; test strategy, test plan, testbed creation.

  • Test development, including procedures, functions, test scenarios, test cases, test datasets, test scripts to use in testing software.

  • Test execution, reporting, analysis and recommendations.

  • Test Closure, capturing the key outputs, lessons learned, results, logs. Documents related to the project are archived and used as a reference for future projects.

  • Organize relevant stages of testing for each project (Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Security Testing, Performance Testing etc.)

  • Work with developers / administrators to develop and maintain test environments. Ensure migration of final products is successful by testing in production.

  • Work closely with Project Managers to plan testing steps of all IT projects. Provide effort estimates with solid and complete information in a timely manner.

  • Manage the test cycle, including test environment setup, development of test data and scenarios, test databases and defect tracking schemes.

  • Develop automated and reproducible testing frameworks where ever possible. Write and refine complex test scripts.

  • Develop and ensure quality standards through all stages of product development life cycle.

  • Identify, analyse, and report defects with full evidence, such as functionality errors, inconsistencies in software program functions, file outputs, user interface forms, content, and system usability issues.

  • Logs, tracks and verifies resolution of software and specification defect

  • Triage bugs, issues, defects and failures

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years in a testing role, experience as a team leader is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of quality control practices and defect management

  • Experience in all facets of software lifecycle and an understanding of lifecycle paradigms.

  • Proficient in developing and monitoring QA metrics

  • Requires advanced Excel, Access and TSQL skills, and experience with large flat files and flat file editors

  • SQL Query skills required, working with relational databases.

  • Experience developing automated test scripts and maintaining the scripts as software changes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Aptitude for learning new technologies and applications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance

  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong preference for candidates with software testing certification from International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) or equivalent certification.

  • Experience with testing and/or maintaining IT applications in a clinical healthcare setting preferred; working with user interfaces is a plus.

  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools preferred
