The Software Engineering Program team is looking for an expert program manager to join the Core OS Platform Services and Operations EPM team. This is an opportunity to drive key software initiatives as a partner specifically with the Core Virtualization group within the Platform Services organization. This team is an interdisciplinary team working across the entire system, from the kernel up through libraries, frameworks, and applications. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Program Manager to lead highly cross-functional technology efforts designing, building, optimizing, and shipping new virtual machine and virtual device capabilities, technologies, and tools. This role requires an energetic and motivated individual with strong communication, organization, and technical skills who works well in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and also have a desire to learn, develop, and build on technical expertise during product development. Key Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in program or project management in software development

  • Knowledge of software engineering standard methodologies and related dependencies

  • Highly motivated and resourceful self-starter

  • Sound technical foundation in computer architecture

  • Strong leadership skills including ability to build trusting relationships and influence others

  • Excellent spoken and written communication with the ability to tailor communication style to multiple audiences

  • Organization and multi-tasking skills with extraordinary attention to detail

Description

We're seeking someone to drive, own, and ship all aspects of large, multi-functional efforts and feature areas. In this role you will be the central hub bringing together different teams from Software, Hardware, Quality, Design, Marketing, and other teams, with the goal of delivering on groundbreaking features across all Apple’s ecosystems - Create and maintain detailed project plans, schedule, and status documentation - Partner with engineering teams throughout feature development from architecture, design, implementation, and validation - Bringing together and collaborating with large multi-functional stakeholder groups - Serving as a liaison to communicate information regarding changes, milestones reached, and other pertinent information - Present and communicate new feature initiatives, top issues, risks, and critical achievements to executive leadership - Driving focus to critical path deliverables and track execution of dependencies - Proactively identifying risks to the feature delivery, developing mitigation strategies, and facilitating resolutions Additionally, the role will support multiple engineering managers within the Core Virtualization group by owning the roadmap, prioritization, and timelines for all the teams’ technologies - Communicate Program focus areas to the team - Help the team with ongoing improvements to the program management processes - Facilitate team planning cycles - Proactively identifying, prioritizing, and driving resolution to issues in teams’ software components

Education & Experience

BS in software development management, software engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with any of the following is also a plus, but not required:

    • Project Management certifications
    • Knowledge of operating system internals, embedded system development and bringup, device drivers, and memory management
    • Familiarity with hardware virtualization technologies
    • CPU/GPU virtualization or device emulation

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300.00 and $241,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
