Position Summary

The Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp Engineer III is responsible for ensuring the operations of assigned functions in accordance with the BSMHIT leadership and IT governance. This position is responsible for the analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of problems related to the deliveries of XenDesktop (VDI) and XenApp. This includes the design, build and support of these technologies. The position entails the delivery of all services in a timely, reliable, and cost-effective manner. As this is a work from home position, it’s not limited to Ohio.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-level tasks related to the design, discovery, operation, servicing, troubleshooting, and administration of the following technologies:

  • Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp LTSR versions

  • Citrix Provisioning Services and Machine Creation Services

  • Citrix App Layering

  • Citrix Storefront

  • Citrix Workspace App

  • Citrix and RDS Licensing

  • Dell Wyse Management Suite

  • Legacy Citrix XenApp versions, where needed

  • Duties will also involve, but are not limited to, the following ancillary technologies:

  • Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems and components

  • Active Directory including Group Policy Management

  • Server Hardware Platforms

  • Virtualization platforms

  • Complete work on major, complex projects with an extensive competency

  • Lead the evaluation of technical solutions based on requirements, ranging from group to enterprise wide deployments

  • Provide Tier 3 support and guidance to IT for all Health System and affiliate entities

  • Coordinate with both technical and non-technical staff and vendors on the implementation of complex projects

  • Recommend, implement and document corrective solutions and preventative measures

  • Document work in the form of policies, standards and knowledge base articles

  • Ensure solutions are delivered in adherence with defined standards and policy

  • Act as a lead project resource, provide guidance, as needed, to team members, as well as provide training and mentoring on technologies to peers and colleagues

  • Work both independently and with various teams across the Bon Secours Mercy Health enterprise

  • Perform daily prioritization of work to ensure assigned project and incident SLA requirements are met

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in Citrix and/or VDI engineering and administration

  • High-level working knowledge of Citrix XenApp including desktop clients

  • High-level working knowledge of Citrix XenDesktop/VDI including thin client management

  • Prior experience implementing and supporting VDI preferred, but not required

  • Citrix Technical Certifications a plus, but not required

  • High-level working knowledge with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS)

  • Working experience with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Management

  • Working knowledge of VMware ESX and/or Citrix XenServer and infrastructure components

  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell, network protocols, and SSL certificates

  • Knowledge of Cisco UCS servers and infrastructure components

  • Knowledge of storage system configurations including NFS and fiber channel

  • Understanding of patch management and antivirus methodologies and best practices

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to author technical documents and create procedure manuals

  • Experience deploying applications in a healthcare setting a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

  • Ability to conduct research into current and future technologies

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • 24/7 on-call availability as part of a rotation schedule

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • College diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems or other industry related curriculum, or 3+ years equivalent work experience
