UnitedHealth Group Data Platform Architect - Remote in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

The Data Platform Architect will be part of the reporting team and will focus on the internal financial department requirements. This role primarily performs report requirements gathering, testing, Agile process and intake support, and financial data modeling. The team is responsible for developing and supporting reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The development tools that the team utilizes include: Power BI, ZAP, Alteryx, SSIS, SQL, and Acterys.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex financial data models for business data analysis and reporting purposes

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models that align with business needs

  • Evaluate and recommend data modeling tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy of data modeling processes

  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure consistency and integrity of data models

  • Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance and enhance overall system functionality

  • Document and communicate data model designs and standards to ensure understanding and compliance across the organization

  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends in data modeling and incorporate new techniques and methodologies into our data modeling processes

  • Partnering with IT and the database team to manage requirements and expectations tied with Data Analytics and reporting efforts

  • Presenting results and possible areas for improvement

  • Reviews the work of others

  • Develops innovative approaches

  • Sought out as expert within their area

  • Serves as a leader/mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Located within the U.S.

  • 3+ years of experience with an industry standard data modeling tool

  • Experience in designing and implementing database structures

  • Experience creating and maintaining ETL processes with tools, such as Alteryx, SSIS, and ZAP

  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and a solid understanding of financial analysis terminology and best practices

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for data modeling and database design

  • Intermediate proficiency with SQL including experience crafting complex queries with joins, subqueries, aggregates, and functions

  • Familiarity with data warehousing

  • Proven ability to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data requirements

  • Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with Acterys data modeling tool

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools

  • Experience with Alteryx, SSIS, ZAP, or other ETL tools

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of database queries

  • Experience in healthcare industry

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
