Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent in related field and at least 5 years of relevant work experience

Job Summary:

Manages and assists the Director and/or Senior Finance Manager in financial and operational analysis activities with a complex functional or organizational scope. The manager will be able to assist in multiple activities at one time with minimum supervision.

Job Duties:

  • Assists the Director and/or Senior Finance Manager with department operations includingdepartmental budget, staffing, and special projects

  • Supervises the coordination, preparation and analysis of complex financial and operational

  • reports, financial statements, scorecards, metrics, benchmarks, budgets, and financialforecasts across multiple areas

  • Oversees and validates complex analysis of historical and projected financial andoperational data to provide leadership information to make relevant financial decisions

  • Manages and validates information to support developing trends that will inform forecastsand management decision making

  • Identifies and utilizes technology and best practices to ensure continuous processimprovement

  • Oversees the quality assurance functions of financial data and statistical information

  • Remains current with and progressively learns industry trends, analytical techniques andappropriate financial systems necessary to complete essential job functions

  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure

  • Performs related duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Possess and demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding, with progressivedevelopment, of financial statements and relationships, analytical techniques, operations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, practices, and procedures

  • Progressive development of the ability to analyze/evaluate data

  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work andcommunicate with individuals at all levels of the institution

  • Possess advanced decision-making skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Ability to accomplish goals

  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism

External Relations and Development:

  • Actively participates with Business and Finance colleagues in completing initiatives, goals and priorities

  • Develops productive relationships with UTMB personnel across campus while accomplishing institutional objectives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA and/or Masters’ Degree in Business or related field is preferred.

  • Experience in Health Systems and Academic Medicine is desirable.

  • Pro forma and business plan development

  • Financial modeling and sensitivity analyses

  • Data analytics/ Data mining

  • Proficient in Excel

  • EPSi or Qlik experience a plus.

  • Cost Accounting Principles as well as Hyperion, PeopleSoft, Action O/I, Strata, PBCS, Power BI

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule:

Partial remote, three days working in office, two days working from homeMonday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion.
