Job SummaryThe Estimator is responsible for the accurate estimation of the siding and cladding materials needed in commercial and multi-family projects, according engineered and designed plans.Works under general supervision; exercises little discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis.Principal Duties and Responsibilities Primary function is to produce accurate and timely estimates, which will result in profitable jobs and revenue. Land work! Produce estimates in a timely fashion, according to the bid schedules that are created by the lead Estimator. Demonstrate proficiency in using On Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, and Microsoft Office products. Demonstrate proficiency with reading and writing skills - emails, letters, proposals. During a bid, it is your responsibility to speak with the customers. Let them know you're bidding, ask them questions/send RFI's as needed to put together a complete estimate. Review all plans and specs at time of bid to ensure accuracy. Produce well written, detailed, accurate proposals for our bids with project specific inclusions and exclusions, in addition to many boilerplate items. These proposals are meant to clearly outline our scope so as to avoid any confusion down the road. Detailed to the point that we could almost build the project based on the proposal. Follow up with customers on a regular basis after submitting bids. Get feedback and ultimately close deals with customers. Maintain accurate and up to date bid information in the company's CRM pipeline software. This includes schedule information, feedback on pricing, contact information, and % hot fields or more. Bid Deadlines are very important. This position requires flexibility in hours as necessary to complete work in a timely manner. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum high school graduate. Preferred bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent Minimum 5 years of Estimating experience, estimating siding and cladding materials required for commercial construction or multi-family construction Working knowledge and experience using On Screen Takeoff ( OST ) and Quick Bid required Skills and abilities Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking Ability to read and understand blueprints Ability to read, understand and interpret building codes Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to use a computer Ability to learn estimating software Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and work under little supervision Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management.
