TEKsystems Lead Python Engineer (Remote) in Houston, Texas

Description:

As an organization, TEKsystems Global Services (TGS) provides a continuum of services ranging from Engagement Management to full functional Outsourcing, including Offshore Centers in Canada and India. Our model provides the ability to engage customers beyond staffing when asked for more ownership, capabilities, or methodology while enhancing client/consultant support.

We partner with progressive leaders to create opportunities, accelerate business transformation, and help build the enterprises of tomorrow. We work with 80% of the Fortune 500 to address their technology, strategy, and talent needs. We innovate so industries stay ahead of what’s next. As a full-stack technology and talent services provider, we partner with our customers across the globe to own change. Join us.

This position is a Lead Python Engineer who will directly work with an architect, mid-level engineers, and the client on designing and implementing a utility that transforms the current legacy jobs to run using the new testing utility in AWS. This position is immediately needed in a large migration effort that requires orchestration jobs to be migrated from one legacy testing utility to a more up-to-date testing utility.

Outside of the immediate need, this is an opportunity to work with onshore AWS practice architects on building out practice offering accelerators that drive value for our customers by reducing the amount of planning and implementation on our engagements. These align with our objectives and our strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon to produce high-quality strategic offerings. In the past, we have relied on open-source solutions such as AWS LZA in CDK (https://github.com/awslabs/landing-zone-accelerator-on-aws), which are good for both the presales experience and the implementation experience, bringing a quicker time to value for the customer.

The Lead Python Developer will work directly with our Senior Architects to produce the accelerator code for various modular pieces of an offering as determined by the architect. A well-rounded Lead Developer is needed for the position as requirements are broad, and the solutions are not rigid; they need the flexibility to produce the best results with a customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Great communication between architect and client application teams.

  • Define project structure.

  • Translating conceptual architecture into Python components.

  • Employing best practices in application development, e.g.,

  • Trunk based development.

  • Using Command Line args for defining input scope (to be picked up from DB).

  • Leveraging externalized configurations, externalized transformation maps, externalized rules for transformations, and output control configs (git vs. local folder).

  • Integration with CI/CD tools.

  • Output reporting.

  • Logging.

  • Notifications on job completion.

Internal projects:

  • Take in requirements from the Senior Architect based on initial design and objectives.

  • Leverage flexible application logic to create infrastructure code.

  • Take base patterns found in open source or internal repositories and apply feature updates to increase value.

  • Implement security, networking, and observability to each modular piece of infrastructure as determined by the architect.

  • Code reviews with the team to take back feedback for further improvements.

  • Take complex problems and create simple solutions using the tools and services available.
