As an Automation Solutions Developer, you will:

  • Solution Developer’s focus will be to assist sales with scope development on opportunities not fully developed by an Engineer of Record or lacking information in well-defined plans and specifications.

  • The knowledge, experience, and industry know-how of the solution developer will assist developing a scope of work for a Siemens proposal while using problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Utilize effective communication skills to proactively interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Have a concrete understanding of Building Automation Systems including airside and waterside controls and be able to optimize building energy efficiency through automation/controls and mechanical system analysis.

  • Evaluate material and pricing to appropriately suggest substitutions that meet performance specifications.

  • Provide value by communicating on product, installation, and commissioning risk factors before and during cost reviews.

  • Assist with developing sequence of operations and influence product selection (including 3rd party products).

  • Interpret customer requirements as communicated in drawings, specifications, and customer meetings including suggesting alternative approaches that differentiate Siemens from our competitors and provide valued cost savings.

  • Participate in customer site visits for job walks, interviews, or meetings (in-person or remotely).

  • Coordinate the overall estimating effort with an estimator, aligning with local operations team during cost review and technical handover meetings, and assisting sales in communications with customers and/or estimators.

  • Assist with developing pre-construction opportunities and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.

  • Align with and follow the Siemens-established Operations Center standardized structure for creating estimates.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED

  • 2+ years of experience in sales, estimating, field (technician/specialist), or design engineering in direct support of Building Automation Systems (HVAC)

  • Demonstrated knowledge/aptitude of Building Automation with proven proficiencies in the components of a BAS, including controllers, sensors, output devices, communications protocols, and user interface based on applicable work experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge/aptitude of HVAC and mechanical systems, smart buildings, and engineering fundamentals (e.g., sizing valves, dampers, AFMS, Meters, VFDs, etc.) based on applicable work experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans, specifications, and schematics based on applicable work experience

  • Ability to travel nationwide for company business up to 20%

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

  • Must be 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, estimating, field (technician/specialist), or design engineering in direct support of Building Automation Systems (HVAC)

  • 2+ years of BAS experience in direct support of critical environments (e.g., pharma, life science, data centers, operating rooms, laboratory, and room pressure controls)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering fields

  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud related services, APIs, networking switches, routers, and protocols

  • Demonstrated knowledge of using estimating/quoting systems

  • The pay range for this position is $53,000 - $90,900 and an annual 5% target bonus incentive. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
