Position Purpose: All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHIs vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for assessing patient nutrition status, providing medical nutrition therapy and diet counsel/education to patients according to established protocols.

Nutrition Care

Provides quality nutrition care in relation to the patient\'s prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, nutrition status and other needs in an acute care environment, as well as within the clinics as appropriate.

Provides support and guidance to Dietetic Interns.

Participates in ongoing education as appropriate.

Provides a comprehensive assessment of nutritional status, determines patient\'s nutrient needs, and develops a comprehensive plan of care by using department-established guidelines.

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team individually and in group meetings in recommending, implementing, and monitoring of nutrition interventions.

Documents care in the medical record. Ensures timely and accurate billing as appropriate to the position.

Provides ongoing or follow-up care according to established time frames and reassessment criteria. Identifies and provides for patient and family education needs.

Participates in departmental quality improvement efforts. revision of departmental formulary, development of practice guidelines and educational resources, and community events.

Regulatory/Accountability

Performs duties in compliance with performance improvement plans, and all licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.

Documentation is complete and consistent with MNT standards of care, including response to treatment.

Adheres to the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Code of Ethics.

Participates in creating and monitoring quality/performance improvement standards.
