This candidate will be part of a 40+ person team made up of Project Managers, Teradata and Web Developers, Data Modelers, DBAs, Business Analysts and Report Analysts. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage batch job migration and conversion activities for the State of Michigan Health Services Data Warehouse and participating systems/users

  • Learn a homegrown batch processing environment (MDHHS Common Batch Framework) from State of Michigan documentation and on the job exposure

  • Learn the operational protocols and best practices of the MDHHS Common Batch Framework

  • Review existing batch jobs to understand their current function, including Linux shell scripts and Teradata utility scripts for BTEQ, TPT, Multiload, Fastload, and FastExport

  • Convert existing batch jobs into the MDHHS Common Batch Framework, ensuring they follow the operational protocols and best practices

  • Test batch job conversions for accuracy, quality, and adherence to standards

  • Become proficient with the State of Michigan Helix ticket system and the promotion process for production

  • Lead other developers in the conversion of existing batch jobs

  • Mentor other developers in the creation of new batch processes

  • Follow a cohesive approach for achieving conversion milestones

  • Analyze and recommend process improvements

  • Must be able to work independently

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Teradata experience (V16/17)

  • 5+ years of experience with performance tuning within a Teradata environment (SQL,Joins, Indexes, Viewpoint, Explains)

  • 5+ years of experience SQL Skills that include working with joins, indexes, partitions at table level and performance tuning skillsets

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Assistant

  • 5+ years of experience performing data extracts, data transformations & data loads (ETL)

  • 5+ years of experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting

  • 5+ years of experience with data migration

  • 5+ years of experience working on projects employing Agile methodology

  • 3+ years of experience with Teradata Utilities (TPT, Mload, Fastload, BTEQ, etc.)

  • Experience with TASM

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with State Government/Public Health business areas

  • Experience working with business partners to proactively identify value add solutions

  • Experience with Report Development

  • Experience with Analytical Tools

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
