Warner Bros. Discovery WBD Sports - Freelance SEO Editor (Third Party Temporary Games Time Opportunity for Paris 2024) in London, United Kingdom

Every great story has a new beginning, and yours starts here.

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports has a fantastic freelance opportunity to join our team covering the greatest sporting event on earth, the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Your New Role...

We are looking to work with talented SEO editors to supplement our existing team working across TNT Sports and Eurosport’s English-language, written digital output on our free web and app platforms.

This unique opportunity will give successful candidates the chance to help lead our editorial SEO content across 17 days and 32 sports as the Olympics returns to Europe for the first time since London 2012.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate a deep working knowledge of what drives high-performing editorial SEO strategies; know how to identify key trending topics; and how to target them with high-quality editorial that educates and informs users and promotes our broadcast. We would expect a stream of smart and creative ideas around written content to target high-volume search terms and queries related to Paris 2024.

Eurosport is an official rightsholder of the Olympic Games and your written content would sit alongside a compelling offer of free-to-air video clips showcasing the best of the action and our broadcast. Meanwhile, our streaming platform discovery+ is the Streaming Home of the Olympics, and the only place you can watch every moment of Paris 2024 live.

Our team will grow significantly for the period of the Games and we will have SEO shifts in both the daytime and evening to cover the breadth of the Olympic day. Ability to attend in person in our London office is highly desirable.

Please note that this is a temporary opportunity and for the duration of this contract you will be engaged by a third party agency partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery. You will not be an employee of, or directly engaged by, Warner Bros. Discovery.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Creating bespoke SEO content to target high-volume search terms and queries

  • Monitoring trending tools to establish what conversations and topics are driving interest

  • Updating data and schedule pages to ensure optimum SEO performance

  • Reviewing wider content offering to ensure compliance with SEO best practices

Qualifications and Experience...

  • Must be passionate about sport and able to demonstrate it

  • Experience working in a digital newsroom is highly valued

  • Strong editorial values and attention to detail is crucial

  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment covering elite sport

How We Get Things Done…
