SSI needs to add a Project Management Specialist, to support our current list of services provided for the U.S. Navy. 

PMA-259 Air-to-Air Missiles Program NATO Sea Sparrow Integrated Product Team requires logistics support for the Sea Sparrow weapons program for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

The incumbent will perform technical services in the following general areas: Product Support Management (PSM); Supply Support; Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T); Maintenance Planning and Management; Design Interface (DI); Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH); Sustaining Engineering; Technical Data and Configuration Control; Computer Resources; Facilities and Infrastructure; Support Equipment (SE); and Training and Training Support.

This is a Part-time telework position.

Primary Functions: 

  • Support the program(s) Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (or equivalent FMS document).

  • Participate in program-related teleconferences and meetings and respond to emails.

  • Utilize an inventory and parts tracking process.

  • Prepare inventory items and parts for shipment, to include proper packaging and labeling for the items.

  • Support the execution of maintenance plans for the weapon systems.

  • Provide recommendations for the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) maintenance procedures, techniques, and requirements to ensure maintenance tasks satisfy operational requirements for program customers.

  • Identify and recommend areas for changes/improvements for optimizing maintenance procedures to meet predetermined affordability and reliability goal.

  • Follow the most current technical manuals and standard operating procedures for the weapon system being supported.

  • Perform visual inspections of weapons and weapon containers, analyzing the condition of the weapons.

  • May conduct or provide oversight of electrical testing of the weapons, as applicable, and document results.

  • Provide support and recommendations to the FMS customers and weapon program regarding demilitarization and disposition plans for the weapons systems.

  • Provide technical expertise on weapon hardware.

  • Provide analyses and support in troubleshooting weapon issues.

  • Research and respond to fleet and program requests for information concerning weapon system configuration, performance, and reliability utilizing the appropriate data management system.

  • Provide technical expertise on weapon test and support equipment, specifically to include DSM-156.

  • Provide technical expertise for repair and/or testing issues.

  • Provide analyses and support in troubleshooting test equipment issues.

  • Provide onsite (formal and OJT) weapon-specific, weapon system, equipment, and component training to weapon program customers.

    Education/Experience/Skills :

    BS or BA degree in engineering, computer science or information systems.  

    ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: An AS or AA degree in a “Relevant Technical Discipline” and eight (8) tears of experience in engineering management and supervision of or filed service of naval command and control, communication systems or other designated field.

    Of a minimum of 10 years’ experience, at least five (5) years of experience in engineering management and supervision of a project in system engineering or the design of or field service of naval command and control systems or other “Relevant Technical Discipline.”

    Must have the ability to interpret technical publications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).  Capable of assisting leading a team, as well as mentoring and training junior technicians.  Must possess ability to work tactfully with professional engineers, technicians, customers, and management staff on all levels of effort.  Must be capable of adhering to all Federal, State, and Company safety regulations.

    U.S. Citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required for hire, and to be maintained throughout employment. All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
