Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The incumbent: Teacher, DoDEA Virtual School Duties: Assists students in completing online work as appropriate. Monitors and tracks the progress of students. Creates, maintains and updates communication log for assigned students. Is available to staff, students and sponsors on an as-needed basis via phone, instant message or other synchronous communication tools. Communicates regularly with students, sponsors, staff and assigned administrators. Collaborates with other educators in required content area digital learning communities (DLCs) to exchange ideas and utilize best practices for online learning. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens Applicant must have at least a Bachelor's Degree. Quantico, VA- 0368 Teacher, World Language (American Sign Language)- A bachelor's degree or higher in any academic discipline area. A minimum of 18 semester hours of American Sign Language course work is required. Course work should include Foundations of Education of the D/HH: History Trends and Culture, The linguistics of American Sign Language, Methods of Teaching ASL, ASL Level IV: Proficiency in American Sign Language or other equivalent American Sign Language course work. Preference given to candidates with a certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), and/or successfully completing the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI). An unencumbered professional teaching license in content area or its state equivalent will be considered to have fulfilled these requirements. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
