Our team designs, develops, and manages applications, and infrastructure that support Akamai's Connected Cloud Compute products and services. We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission at the forefront of what we do make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.

Partner with the best

You will oversee a team of engineers focused on designing, implementing, deploying, and supporting solutions to advance the reliability performance, and security of the virtualization and host platform software and services underpinning the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will both possess and build upon domain Subject Matter Expertise and lead your team to do the same.

As a Senior Virtualization & Host Platform Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Managing, mentoring, and growing a team of talented site reliability engineers

• Being an integral part of new product development by defining requirements and service level objectives

• Collaborating with our support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and remediate complex problems

• Designing and implementing enhancements to our observability and monitoring infrastructure and coverage in order to identify and correct problems before they impact our customers

• Developing processes, plans, and infrastructure to safely and efficiently deploy new software components and updates at scale

• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Engineering , Computer Science or its equivalent

• Have excellent communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills

• Able to work in alignment with and contribute to strategic business initiatives by coordinating and guiding the work of other engineers

• Possess advanced level experience with and understanding of designing, implementing, and deploying software

• Possess advanced level experience with and understanding of infrastructure at scale leveraging automation and infrastructure as code

• Possess engineering expertise in Linux system internals, kernel, common Linux virtualization technologies like QEMU/KVM, hardware/software interface layers, and/or advanced Linux system administration
