Our team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure that support Akamai's Compute products and services. We specialize in creating and managing robust routing software and infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud.

As a Site Reliability Engineer II you'll collaborate across software development, operations, and network infrastructure teams. You'll shape organizational standards and tools to ensure the growth and stability of our global platform.

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Partnering across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our products and services

• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards

• Developing automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows

• Defining SLOs for our compute infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance

• Working with Dev and Quality Assurance teams to create more robust solutions, code improvement and stability

• Collaborating with support, operations, and engineering teams, you'll troubleshoot complex network issues and join on-call rotations.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field

• Have extensive experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, or similar

• Have advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar

• Have experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP

• Have a comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, OSI model, network acls, routing protocol basics, and routing policy.

• Have familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform

• Have experience in application development, codebase contributions, and scripting using Python, Bash, Go, Rust, or similar languages is necessary.
