WorkCare Business Analyst - Leave of Absence/Disability Claims and Accommodations - Remote in CA (Orange / Riverside/ San Bernardino counties) in Work From Home, United States

The Business Analyst primary responsibility is to act as the liaison between IT Department and the operational departments of the organization to communicate the requirements of software development with team members to design a solution that will meet business requirements and fulfill user stories as needed.

Additionally, this role provides technical support and acts as a super-user, performs data import/export as required.

This position coordinates with VP of Software Engineering regarding requirements and direction.

This position is remote, but we are looking for a candidate in Orange / Riverside/ San Bernardino counties to be close to our Anaheim office.

  • Lead requirements gathering and analysis sessions with business stakeholder group to not only understand the business requirements for Leave of Absence/Disability Claims & Accommodation Management system, but to also collaborate with these stakeholders to shape the requirements and solution in a way that meets the business objective and is consistent with the enterprise practices and architecture. Create business requirements document (BRD) and processes and communicate them to development team.

  • Identify business unit needs using various analysis techniques such as data flow modeling and workflow analysis. Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions, use cases scenarios, workflow analysis, and/or existing systems documentation or procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to design a solution that will meet business requirements and fulfill user stories as needed.

  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving processes or further leveraging these systems.

  • Contribute to project discoveries, kickoffs, prepare proposals and statements of work following company standards as needed.

  • Work closely with end-users, WorkCare developers, vendors and consultants as needed. Provide project management team with identified risks and concerns discovered during the gathering of requirements; assist team in developing solution.

  • Prevent and correct defects; support enhancements and making changes to increase the value provided by the system.

  • Help establish project test strategy, test plans as well as assist with test execution for quality assurance processes and oversees User Testing for business units.

  • Oversee and/or implement internal and external system data exchanges.

  • Determine software reporting requirements and create, maintain, and modify user reports as needed.

  • Escalate technical support issues as appropriate. Act as the primary liaison between the IT Department and technical support team.

  • Resolve user complaints, research issues, answers technical questions, and assists with the application revision process.

  • Log user complaints and determines ability of applications to perform requested tasks and meet user requirements.

  • Provide first level day to day technical support and acts as a super-user. Provide on-call IT support as needed.

  • Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by supervisor for the efficient operation of WorkCare.

Supervisory Responsibilities


  • College degree required. A college degree in Computer Science, management information systems or comparable years of experience in computer software field preferred.

  • Must have minimum of 3 years of work experience in Business Analysis for gathering and documenting requirements and user stories for a Leave of Absence/Disability Claims & Accommodation Management system

  • Must have Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements, state, federal regulations, and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws

  • Knowledge of Agile and System Development Life Cycle

  • Team player, self-starter, and detail oriented.

  • Must have experience in implementing system data exchanges

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to describe and present business ideas and concepts in a clear, concise, and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical individuals

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and growing business unit

  • Must have a passionate commitment for extraordinary levels of service quality

  • Must have expertise with the variety of off-the-shelf software for office productivity such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe programs. Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred. Must be able to learn other software as needed.

  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional approach with others in job-demanding, multitasking and/or project support situations; the ability to create and edit written materials; the skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities; and the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality; critical thinking skills; make independent decisions in accordance with company policy and procedures; and take initiative on issues that arise daily.

This position has a minimum base salary which starts at $90,000.00 per year. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position. Additional benefits for this position include medical, dental, vision, HSA, HRA, Life, Disability, EAP, 401K, legal benefits, wellness program.
