Position Overview

Are you a seasoned Engineering professional with a knack for meticulous investigation and a passion for improving product safety? Polaris is seeking a Field Investigation Engineer to perform critical on-site investigations across various incidents involving our products. This role integrates engineering acumen and legal insights to conduct comprehensive investigations—ranging from fires and crashes to mechanical and electrical issues. Your findings will provide essential root cause analysis, shaping product enhancements and fortifying our commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough on-site forensic investigations of incidents involving Polaris products worldwide, focusing on fires, crashes, and mechanical or electrical failures.

  • Collect comprehensive data sets, including vehicle conditions, environmental scene, and narrative accounts, leveraging insights from subject matter experts (SMEs) to augment investigation quality.

  • Analyze collected data and present findings in a Peer Review format to a multidisciplinary team of Polaris experts, contributing to broader safety initiatives.

  • Act as the go-to Polaris technical expert for engineering analyses and product liability issues, guiding legal strategies and technical solutions.

  • Provide clear and compelling testimony, including depositions and trial appearances, to support legal proceedings related to product incidents.

  • Develop and share lessons learned with product teams, enhancing safety features and design considerations through cross-functional collaboration.

  • Adaptability and Flexibility : You thrive in environments that require frequent travel and rapid response. Your ability to adapt to new challenges on short notice and work independently is crucial in meeting the demands of this role.

Requirements

  • Must reside within 90 minutes of a major airport.

  • AA or BS degree

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in product investigations.

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical groups.

  • Able to travel up to 75% of the time, occasionally on short notice.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

Preferences

  • Engineering Degree

  • CFI, CFEI, and ACTAR certifications.

  • Experience in accident reconstruction, vehicle and structure fire investigations, and providing expert testimony.

  • Familiarity with vehicle systems such as powertrain, chassis, electrical systems, and crashworthiness.

  • Unmanned drone operation experience, CAD, 3D imaging, and familiarity with International Safety Standards and Testing Practices.
